My friends and I flew in for what would be a whole new experience for us, all of being experienced hunters but never for hogs. The welcome we got from George and Scott was exceptional , they showed us to our bunks a very clean and air conditioned area with showers and kitchen.
Both George's will go out of the way to help you get on a hog . I've been several times and will be back again. Big George can track like a bloodhound and does a great job processing the hog .
I've hunted at this place twice now, after this second time I will never go back. First off when I ask the guide what stand would be best to sit at for the morning the answer I get is none of them they won't go to the feeders then I should walk. I ask where should I start my stalk at then, his answer is anywhere. So as I'm walking around I see that most feeders were either empty or not working. After an unsuccessful morning hunt we go out that evening. After a couple hours sitting in my blind right at dusk prime shooting time the guide drives a tractor up to my feeder and dumps a bucket of slop out. Obviously I don't see any hogs the rest of the night. When I return to camp the guide asks when we are leaving in the morning because my hunting partner shot a hog and it still needed processed. I told him 7am because we have a 10 hour drive. I wake up that morning at 6 to find the hogs untouched and nobody there. The owner finally shows up at 6:40 and starts processing which gives us a late start on the road. Before I leave the owner asks if I saw anything I explained I never saw one hog in his high fence hunting property. Doesn't offer me my money back or a free hunt to make up for it. I'm really unhappy with the service I received there. The guiding service I received was piss poor and lazy. Instead of trying to help me have a successful hunt they took my money and showed me the gate.
When we were about to leave George offered to process all the meat and he was very professional about it. Sausage was offered in different flavors and the meat was all vacuumed sealed for us to take it home.
Scott and George made this trip very memorable. They know what they are talking about and take your adventure seriously. It is obvious they want you to have the best experience while hunting. If you do not shoot a Hog they take you back out and help you look for one. I would recommend the Choctaw Hog Hunting Ranch to anyone. Great Service, Great Time, We plan on coming back!
My friends and I flew in from Washington State and stayed 3 days at the Choctaw Hog Hunting Ranch. None of us ever hunted Hogs, so it was a new experience and we could not have had better guides then Scott and George. This is a hunting trip so if you’re expecting a luxury hotel it is not, but everything they offer on the Web site is top notch. The bunk house, bathroom, kitchen, TV area, and Cooler are perfect for hunters. Before we arrived they called to confirm we were still coming and if we needed anything special during our stay. When we arrived Scott and George were waiting for us and ready to help. We were given a briefing of their layout out and Scott droves us out to the hunting property in Quads.
For two full days and nights we hunted and chased the hogs from hiking to sitting in stands. George and Scott made sure they did everything possible to get what we came for from bringing water to us to hauling in the hogs we got ! Excellent time by all definitely will be making this trip again. They know what their doing and what their talking about !!! oh and the meat is fantastic
This is a hunting trip not a road hunting trip. Hogs hide and you have to walk the woods looking under stumps, in the grass and flush them out. If you plan on walking the road don’t expect anything but piglets. At night you can use their stands where Scott will bring out slop for the Hogs, but expect to sit there until dark don’t think they will come right away smelling the slop.
Only issue is the bad job they did when I wanted to keep the head. They charged $50 for caping. My taxidermist was not happy with the job they did. Other then that, great hunt.
During our hunting Scott brought us water, check on us to make sure we were safe, and pick up our kills. After our first kill we continued to stay and by the time we got back Scott had already skinned and put our Hogs in the cooler.
